Cooper Weigh Station

As you enjoy the Raccoon River Valley Trail, be sure to make your way 7 miles south to Cooper to stop and enjoy the old weigh station. This spot has been refurbished to now include colorful murals painted on the outer building walls. This space has public restrooms, park benches, and green space for a great place to rest and relax along your journey.
This building was once the office and scale house for Milligan Bros Grain Company. Milligan Bros had 13 steel bins with a grain storage capacity of 196,000 bushels when the company sold the site to Cooper residents Doug and Gerald Lawton in 1978. Lawton Grain used the elevator until suspending storage in 1985.
