Exploring Greene County's Eats
The small business community in this area is thriving! We’ve got retail and service businesses of all sizes and types, but my favorite stops to make have to be at our local restaurants! It's no secret that Greene County, with its tight-knit rural charm, doesn't boast the extensive restaurant selection of areas like Ames or the Des Moines metro. But don't let that fool you! We’ve got some pretty great food options that also happen to be owned by our friends and neighbors. From beloved local establishments to familiar national chains, this month's blog post will be your guide to navigating Greene County's delicious offerings.

209 Main | Paton
209 Main is well known for it’s delicious pizza, bar food, and atmosphere. With plenty of TVs and a well-stocked bar, this is a great stop on game nights! They also have specials like Wing Wednesdays, Pizza Thursdays, and Bucket Saturdays.
30 Yard Line | Grand Junction
This sports-themed restaurant and bar is a great addition to the Highway 30 lineup of restaurants! Featuring great appetizers, burgers and sandwiches, and yummy options for kids - this family-friendly restaurant is a must-eat. My go-to app is the Triple Play so that everyone can get their favorite appetizer and maybe try a new one!
Bett & Bev’s BBQ | Jefferson
This small-town BBQ joint has something for the whole family! Smoked meats like pork shoulder and beef brisket, specials including the Frip Pie and shrimp options, and good appetizer selection including pickle fries keep locals coming back again and again. They also have a new location in Perry!
Casa De Oro | Jefferson
Jefferson’s favorite Mexican restaurant is a great one! With complimentary chips, salsa, and queso, every stop here starts off on the right foot. They have an extensive menu with something for everyone, including killer margaritas.
The Centennial | Jefferson
The Centennial is a new dining experience where contemporary taste meets historic charm in a beautifully renovated 146-year-old building on the square in Jefferson. They serve a rotating, hand-crafted seasonal lunch menu, and have delicious desserts! This restaurant has a sweet story that all starts with a local women’s group called “Why Not Us” - learn more about this group on their Facebook page!
Doc’s Stadium | Jefferson
This sports bar is right on the square in downtown Jefferson! Good drinks, good food, and good company are always available at this local watering hole. Stop in to check out what specials they are serving up this week!
Peony Chinese Restaurant | Jefferson
Voted as the best Chinese Restaurant in Central Iowa, this stop never disappoints. Serving traditional menu items such as fried rice, crab rangoons, Hunan chicken, and beef with broccoli - my personal favorite is the Beef Lo Mein! Tender beef and saucy noodles are always the right move. I highly recommend that you call and place your order for dinner tonight!
